May 1st, 2010, Jake’s Cafe signed The Green Ideas Group, as its first tenant. The following week Leclerc Brothers Motion Pictures, CSA Commercial and Huber Creative joined the community. Next week, the momentum continues with an internet company, a photographer and an inventor. Still waiting in the ranks, we have an industrial designer, a commercial photographer, a venture capitalist and a painter.
All of these tenants and prospects, despite their differences, share one specific thing in common. They think, work and create outside the box....which is exactly why they’re the perfect candidates for the Jake’s Cafe Creative Community. It’s the multi-disciplinary nature of our community that will bind us together and... ultimately set us apart as we strive to become Wisconsin’s premier “problem-solving” destination.
Even more exciting it how after only 2-3 weeks, the community is beginning to collaborate, network and share ideas. Last week, Jeff Leismer, a local inventor who has been toying with the prospect of joining the Jake’s Cafe community met the Leclerc Brothers. He shared programming ideas that could through vibration add a meaningful and tactile experience to their motion pictures. Imagine yourself behind the wheel of a hi-performance car or at the helm of a 72 ft. yacht...and not just seeing it and hearing it....but feeling it as well?
Last week, Matt Taylor, a renowned architect from San Francisco stopped by Jake’s Cafe and after a tour of the campus described Jake’s as an “armature” around which creative people attach themselves producing a level of energy not possible when working alone. Truly a profound and insightful metaphor when you consider the possibilities of what the Jake’s Cafe community will become as we continue to recruit right-brained thinkers from a variety of disciplines.
We’re already pretty excited about how this community is coming together, and we still have 40 more creative entrepreneurs to recruit!
Do you know an architect, an interior designer, a landscape architect, a civil engineer, a builder, a programmer, a sound engineer or anyone else who is good at thinking outside the box?
How about a singing biologist?
