Every community needs it. Phones ringing. Printers running. Meetings. People passing one another in the hallways. Doors opening and closing. Laughter. Conversation. Music. It’s called “Hum”. Promises made and promise kept. Today you could hear it and feel it at Jake’s Cafe. It felt good. Like energy moving through wires, blood through veins. Creative people need it. They need lots of it. Energy. To create. They need hum. Real hum.
This morning, fashion designer Valerie Zimbal came in to set up her new office. Jeff Leismer brought his two sons in to tour the Jake’s campus. Jason Irish and James Grunewald met with clients in the cafe. Tim Eylander and Jared Arn held a conference call on the southwest end of the campus. Chris Leclerc came in around lunchtime after sending his brother Phil and his folks off to Alaska. Carpenters were hanging doors. Roofers were installing gutters and downspouts. Phones were ringing. Construction projects continued at a steady pace. Lisa was touching up the woodwork in the rear of the church. Tryg and Blaine were laying the groundwork for an upcoming video project to be shot and edited by Leclerc Motion pictures. Jazz was playing in the creative sanctuary. Harris Wells was installing Google Calendar on our computers. Vendor partners were coming and going. It was all positive energy! Hum.
Have you ever been in a room so quiet you couldn’t think? So quiet you couldn’t create?
So quiet, your mind just wandered round and round looking for something to bump into? We all have. It’s why we have to get out and get some stimulation and refuel.
That’s what hum is. We all need it. It you don’t have it. Get some. Hum.
