crayola-crayons-cake

Excuse me while I think “inside” the box for a moment.

Most of us remember those Back-to-School days, when our moms splurged and bought us a fresh set of Prange Paint Watercolors and a jumbo 64 box of Crayola Crayons.  Lately, I’ve been comparing Jake’s Cafe to that jumbo box of crayons.  We just keep adding more and more crayons to the box!  We have film-makers, writers, graphic artists, web designers, fashion designers, painters, inventors, new product specialists and more.  The neat thing, is Jake’s has grown to a community of 14 businesses with 25 people....and we’re finding new ways to team up together on projects every day.

Last week we had a slew of creative visitors!  A large group from the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a GIS Mapping Consultant, an Industrial Designer, a 3D Animation Specialist, a Sound Designer, a Chef/Caterer and Video Networking/Server specialist. Some were people currently working out of their homes.  Some were working part-time jobs in unrelated fields. Some were still in school and others had just graduated.  But all of them shared one thing in common.  A creative, entrepreneurial  spirit....just waiting for the right time to break out on their own.

My mission has been to seek out great talent/potential and provide an affordable mechanism and community for these people to do what my father “Jake” did over fifty years ago. And that was to follow his dream, to go into business on his own....and do great things in a great way.

The jumbo box of Crayola Crayons is nearly half -full. I suspect we’ll have a few new crayons in the box next month. I can’t wait to see who comes in.  Whatever colors they might be, I know they’ll make us better, stronger and more prolific problem solvers.

So if you know a few “out-of-the box”  creative thinkers out there...people looking for a creative home....let them know that Jake’s might have a place for them “inside the box”.

Merry Christmas!
