Our Promise, "Do More" in Sheboygan County from SheboyganCountyEDC on Vimeo.
Last year about this time, Jake’s Cafe was in the middle of a major production for Sheboygan County Economic Develop. Our mission was help outsiders understand our county’s key point of difference along Lake Michigan’s shoreline. After a lengthy interview process with many of Sheboygan County’s successful entrepreneurs, we came upon a common theme which set the stage for a film which has now drawn the attention of tens of thousands of viewers worldwide. Sheboygan County is a place where you can simply “DO MORE”. And why is that so? Unlike many regions of Wisconsin, the geography of Sheboygan County is unusually diverse. Rivers, hills, kettles, plains, bluffs, valleys, lakes and ponds...all “Rocket Fuel” for the creative class.... people who by nature want to live better, live fuller and live more. In the last few years, our geographic diversity is has been giving way to more cultural diversity which is in turn attracting more creative diversity to the area. This is exciting, because this is exactly what Sheboygan County needs to grow. With so much to offer in terms of lifestyle, what’s the next hurdle? Well, what I’ve been hearing is that we need more skilled workers in the manufacturing segment not to mention more specialized manufacturing space/warehousing space. I can’t argue with that short-term, because if you see where most of the jobs are coming from, it’s in the manufacturing segment. I will argue however, that long-term, it’s going to be innovation/creativity that pulls out of this recession, and we’re going to do our best at Jake’s Cafe to help drive it. If you agree, maybe you’d benefit from an environment with people who feel the same.
