Greetings! I’m Darcie Laack, this spring’s LTC Graphic & Web Intern at Jake’s.
When you meet me, you’ll notice I’m not the traditional LTC student, as I’ve lived some life before attending. I was a teacher for 10 years, and am currently the office manager at 1420am The Breeze – WJUB and 91.3fm The Message – WSTM. I have been managing the graphics, social media, and websites for the radio stations for the past few years, and realized that visual design has always been my passion. So off to LTC I went to learn as much as I could.
At LTC, I’ve added to my Microsoft Office expertise and developed skills with Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, as well as WordPress and Concrete 5 web content management systems. As part of my radio stint, I’ve also learned radio production, programming, and marketing. I have even done some audio production and voice work using Adobe Audition.
I was born in Plymouth, but have lived in Appalachia, Arizona (including teaching on the White Mountain Apache Reservation), and Seattle, before resettling in Plymouth. I love to listen to old-time radio and good music, and keep up with current events. I play board games with friends, and hike with my Cardigan corgi, George Hoover (Follow him on Twitter: @GeorgeHooverWI!).
Above all, I must create. At all times. In fact, along with graphic & web design work, I also have a tiny knitting and crocheting business, “DarZeeDoats Designs.”
So what can we create together? Find me in the LTC workspace on Mondays and Thursdays from 8am to 1pm.
