Food For Thought/TED Talks February 19th

Seth Godin:  “The Tribes We Lead” Seth Godin argues the Internet has ended mass marketing and revived a human social unit from the distant past: tribes. Founded on shared ideas and values, tribes give ordinary people the power to lead and make big change. He urges us to do so. Seth Godin is an entrepreneur and blogger who thinks about the marketing of ideas in the digital age. His newest interest: the tribes we lead.

Amy Cuddy:  “Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are.” Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success. Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions — and even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions.

Join us for lunch each Wednesday at 11:45 as Malyssa Gabrielson  moderates two TED Talk lectures followed by a lively and interactive discussion. For those of you who are already TED fans, nothing more need be said. For those of you who are new to TED Talks, you’ll be exposed to and inspired by new life changing ideas that will help you personally and professionally.
